Benidorm has added two new urban art corners designed to display images from the Municipal Archive on backlit panels installed in public spaces. One is located on Calle Rioja, a busy street that recently had its pavement, trees and accessibility improved. The other stands next to the Ermita de Sanç, in the l'Horta neighbourhood, a well-known meeting point for locals.
On Calle Rioja, visitors can see old postcards of the city alongside photographs from the collection donated by Dutch patron Wim Kuipers. At the Ermita de Sanç, four panels show images from past local festival committees, and the council says these will be updated throughout the year to match different neighbourhood celebrations.
With these additions, the city now has ten such spaces spread across various districts. For guests staying near the Old Town at Mirador de Benidorm, this could be a good reason for a walk to discover a bit of local history away from the usual routes.
