These days, Levante and Poniente beaches are receiving a curious visit: yellow bins fitted with speakers that play a catchy song about recycling packaging, along with a message reminding beachgoers not to forget to dispose of their waste before leaving.
The initiative, led by Ecoembes with support from the local council, takes advantage of the high season crowds to reinforce a simple habit. Besides the musical bins, staff walk along the sand carrying yellow backpacks where visitors can drop the packaging they use during their beach day.
Guests staying at Playa Pequeña, near Plaza de la Señoría and a short distance from the Mirador de Benidorm, may well come across this initiative when heading down to either of the city's main beaches. It's a good chance to join in a simple daily gesture that helps keep the coastline in good shape throughout the summer.
