Benidorm celebrated the feast of its patron saint, Sant Jaume, with a full day of events marking the official countdown to the Festes Majors Patronals, set to take place from 7 to 11 November. The city enjoyed processions, a solemn mass, the traditional 'ball del Peuet' dance, the lighting of the 'Estampeta', fireworks and a popular open-air party in Plaza de Castelar.
A highlight of the day was the unveiling of the festival poster, created by young local illustrator Laura Pascual Llambrich. The artwork shows the festival queens looking out to sea alongside symbols such as Benidorm island, the Virgen del Sufragio and musical notes honouring the centenary of the Unión Musical, the group chosen this year to collectively hold the role of festival standard-bearer.
Guests staying in the Old Town during these dates can reach many of the festive locations on foot, as the area around Plaza de la Señoría lies close to venues such as the church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna and its adjoining square.
