Benidorm is putting the final touches to the security plan for the Festes Majors Patronals, which are drawing closer on the local calendar. Municipal representatives for Festivities and Public Safety met with Local Police, National Police, Firefighters, Red Cross and Civil Protection to review the full programme and coordinate the resources needed.
Among the changes, this year's mascletás will move to Avenida de Foietes, and the float parade will follow a different route due to works on the Jaime I car park, starting from Parque de Elche and finishing at Avenida de Alcoy. It has also been decided that no inflatable castles will be allowed on public streets except those included in the official programme.
Visitors staying in the area should note that Avenida Emilio Ortuño will be closed to traffic from the 2nd for the setup of the traditional 'porrat', reopening on the 17th. There will also be temporary closures on streets such as Venus, Ruzafa and Foietes during the main events, along with possible restrictions near the Recinto Ferial. From Apartamentos Playa Pequeña, next to Plaza de la Señoría in the Mirador de Benidorm area, the Old Town is within walking distance, where much of the festive atmosphere will take place.
